The Traffic Calming Task Force was created by the Birchwood Village City Council on July 14, 2020. The purpose of the Task Force is to research and make recommendations on traffic calming options that will improve public safety along Wildwood Avenue, gather input on the recommendations, and present its recommendations to the City Council. The Task Force has been asked to present its initial findings and recommendation to the City Council by January 12, 2021 and subsequent deadlines as set by the City Council. The Task Force will sunset on July 13, 2021, unless further extended by the City Council. The City Council liaison to the Task Force is Councilmember Randy LaFoy.

In light of the Governor’s Executive Order regarding social-distancing and restrictions on gatherings, the Traffic Calming Task Force of The City of Birchwood Village will conduct its meetings using interactive web-based technology, unless otherwise posted. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13D. 021 Subdivision 1(1) the City of Birchwood is declaring that, “an in-person meeting or a meeting conducted under section 13D.02 is not practical or prudent because of a health pandemic…”
The meetings will be conducted using the Zoom meeting platform, which allows for video-conferencing or teleconferencing, and the details of that are directly below for participating. If you plan to attend it is suggested that you familiarize yourself with the technology in advance. If you plan to participate than you must join the meeting no later than 6:45pm to coordinate with the Moderator.
The Moderator of the meetings shall be Task Force Vice-Chair Sheri Stronach and all participants, except Task Force Members, shall have their microphones muted unless recognized by the Task Force Chair, whose microphone will remain active for the entire meeting. Public Hearings shall be honored using this technology.
